My favourite place

It’s early in the morning, the sun’s rising, the cold air is rushing into my lungs and there’s snow up to my knees: Winter has come to the forest. The trees sparkle with morning dew, nature awakens, the bugs are swarming around my head, the city’s shimmering in the heat, and the sun’s going down: Summer is here.
For me the magic of the forest lies in the way it changes. That, and the magnificent view over the city, is why my favourite place is the Käferberg, a wooded hill overlooking Zurich. It’s a place of silence, encounter, movement, peace and power. Every season gives the Käferberg a new face and tells a new story. The woods glow in different colours, and depending on the foliage offer a great view of the city or obscure it. Nothing stands still. Zurich grows and expands, and sometimes you’re astonished by new buildings and districts that seem to have just appeared.

This is where I come when I need to clear my head, strolling or running, to sit on a bench or by a bonfire, to escape the cares of the world or seek inspiration for projects. Here I weave my stories and look on as the woods and the city of Zurich change.
