My favourite place

The area around the Letten Viaduct in district 5 is urbane, diverse and relaxed. The perfect mix. I often ride there on my bike. At the Josefwiese park I immerse myself in stories – both written ones and those playing out around me: acrobats practising their moves, elderly men absorbed in a game of boules, and kids playing catch around the park. I love all the activity and conversation around me. Once I’ve read and seen enough I browse the stores in the nearby viaduct arches. Visiting the Markthalle, with culinary treats from all over the world, is a must. This is where, a few years ago, I finally found my beloved clotted cream again. After I got to know it in England I searched for it in Zurich for a long time in vain.

From the Markthalle it’s only a stone’s throw to one of my favourite places, the viaduct bridge over the Limmat. I love the view down on to the river and out of town, especially towards evening when the sun is low and bathes the Limmat in warm light. And in summer I love watching the daredevils jumping off the bridge into the river, egged on by their friends or other onlookers. Watching, listening and observing – sometimes communication happens very quietly.

My story

Before moving to open up I spent nearly three years as an editor and consultant at a communications agency in Zurich. I got into writing as a student, when I worked for a local newspaper, first as a freelance and then as an editor. At open up I look after companies in a wide variety of industries, including financial services, ICT and tourism. I really like this exciting mix.
